The figure has her eyes closed, suggesting deep thought or dreaming, while butterflies rest on her head and shoulders as symbols of freedom and transformation. The work is cast with the traditional lost wax method. A thermal coloring process gives the bronze surface a marble-like texture, and the butterflies are rendered in a gold-like material for contrast.
