Grand Gate Hiroshima Restaurant
This vibrant Food Hall consists of 6 Stores, spread over 660sq.m. The space is separated into 7 areas with an open concept. Each shop and space are designed with a unique character but regardless, the whole space is a unified harmony mimicking that of the city of Hiroshima. The urban structure of Hiroshima has been historically shaped by the Ota Rivers delta. The layout and spatial organization of the food hall are intentionally designed to mimic the branches of the delta, naturally drawing customers to the retail zones.
This vibrant Food Hall consists of 6 Stores, spread over 660sq.m. The space is separated into 7 areas with an open concept. Each shop and space are designed with a unique character but regardless, the whole space is a unified harmony mimicking that of the city of Hiroshima. This project challenges the closed off nursing home stereotype for the 100 year life era. It's an open platform fostering Abundant Bonds between residents and the local community. Intergenerational hubs like the Villa and Salon welcome the public. The design balances this openness with resident privacy via separate access routes. It combines safety, elegance, and sustainability, achieving ZEB Ready status.

This flagship store unites traditional confectioner Taneya and its modern patisserie spin off, Club Harie. The design solves the challenge of creating a traditional space for Taneya and an unprecedented one for Club Harie through the single concept of strata. Flowing, organic forms, expressing layered time, improve customer circulation and ease peak season congestion. An open design, revealing the kitchen and stock, optimizes staff workflow for efficient operation. The result is an immersive, narrative driven space that transcends conventional retail design.

This project transforms an inorganic subway station into a cherished public space. Park inspired, the Under the Park concept casts the station as a tree: an underground roots concourse and symbolic tree buildings with unified visibility. A unique sustainable methodology groups components by three lifecycles: permanent Ground, aging Trees, and renewable Leaves. This creates a park like space that invites staying, redefining the station as a sustainable community hub.

By using local materials and working with local craftspeople, the project team aims to contribute to the local economy and a sustainable city, as well as providing guests with an authentic experience while creating opportunities for them to engage with the local culture.

Eataly Ginza Restaurant
Eataly Ginza was planned on the 6th floor of Ginza Six, a facility located in one of Tokyo's most prestigious commercial districts. The floor is occupied by Tsutaya Bookstore, well-known as the large bookstores in Japan, and was designed based on the concept of a back alley. The concept of Eataly is Eataly Garden, and it is planned to be integrated so that a rich Garden spreads beyond the alleyway. The design of the space is based on a collection of small stores reminiscent of a garden so that visitors to Eataly can spend their time comfortably.

The architecture is open to the private garden and the interior has a modern design with a Japanese feel therefore the guests can be relaxed and enveloped in the nature of Hakone atmosphere.

The façade, interior, and furniture were designed in close collaboration with artists, which convert the space itself into a piece of art.

The room is furnished with cushions and foot throws made from local indigo-dyed fabrics and art made from 'Biro' (Livistona), a locally sourced treasured material. The lighting fixtures are made of traditional Ryukyu glass to create a space that conveys the island's distinctive colors and showcases the region's crafts.
