Essence of 220 Years of the Library Exhibition by Maria Gazdag
Essence of 220 Years of the Library Exhibition
Essence of 220 Years of the Library Exhibition
Essence is an educational exhibition created to celebrate the 220th anniversary of the founding of the National Szechenyi Library of Hungary. A visual storyline based on the history of production of books was designed to guide visitors through the rather fragmented space. Materials and techniques used to pass information to readers throughout time are invoked as design elements from vellum to digital surface, from velvet to canvas, from manuscript to printed texts. Colours and textures are related to bindings of Corvinas, of the Founding Charter and to canvas book bindings.

Birth of a Royal Library Exhibition by Maria Gazdag

Birth of a Royal Library Exhibition
Titled: The Corvina Library and the Buda Workshop, the exhibition was organized in the National Szechenyi Library, Budapest. At the heart of the space, in 3 rooms, 67 stunning books were on display from the Bibliotheca Corvina, established by King Mathias in the 15th century. Upon arrival a giant vellum - the material of medieval manuscripts – was placed with the general introduction. A similar interim space, a reading area, a so-called Library was created on the way out of the exhibition rooms. Thus, the visitor journey resonated with the theme of the exhibition: Birth of a Royal Library.
