Stadium SC Freiburg Wayfinding System
The goal was to create a system with its own identity and originality that goes beyond. The structure of the new stadium of SC Freiburg consists of an orthogonal basic form and an orthogonal roof. The guiding principle of the architectural design, to create an identity-forming structure, must be supported. The new wayfinding and orientation system therefore presents itself with a clear language of form. It welcomes and informs visitors and fans already in the outdoor area (parking, busstop, tram), leads them to the entrances and in the stadium via the promenade to the seats.

Architecturally, the goal was to break up the rooms into a new spatial structure, to create spaciousness and expanse within a fixed area and cubature, to transform into the 21st century. This was achieved by increasing the window areas. Parapets were partially opened to floor level to create smooth transitions from inside to outside. The aesthetic reduction of forms, materials and colors lead to a harmonious overall impression, which is underlined by a discreet color and lighting concept. A wellness area with sauna was installed in the former tank.

Grafenegg Wayfinding System by Geissert Thomas
Grafenegg Wayfinding System
Grafenegg Wayfinding System
An intangible orientation system has been designed which takes a back seat to promote the information to be given to the visitors. An ensemble of products, minimalist sculptures for the gardens, markings and signs of various sizes and forms for the buildings. The high polished stainless steel surfaces of the products mirror parts of the landscape, the sky and the architecture and thereby the elements disappear virtually. Defined anthracite areas are used to display information through text and graphics which are engraved and cut out. The typography and arrows are illuminated.
