While the almost toy-like vehicles suggest a playful theme, the shape shows the tension of the object. The metaphoric hand grenade image plays with the urgency and high risk of facing natural disasters, in this case air pollution caused by cars. The central theme of the illustration is the global environmental crisis as a highly explosive sociopolitical matter.

The illustration Flip Flop shows feet in sandals and a bright blue patterned background. The picture is a reminder of a warm summer day spend at a refreshing swimming pool. However, what can be seen in the picture is the artists living room carped. While drawing her feet Miriam Trilety recognized the pattern. It is the idea of jumping off the pool edge into a different underwater universe that becomes vivid as the artist is sitting on the living room couch.

“The Thinker” by Miriam Trilety is a refrence to Rodins’ bronze sculpture “The Thinker”. It is challenging the traditional masculine vision of artistic expression. The Design shows the face of a woman of colour with a double chin and a distinctive nose. The head is held by the hand of a white man and used as a flowerpot at the same time. It is a still life in which the existence of the woman seems to be arranged and rearranged by other people’s ideas.
