View Profile Consult Now Hire NowThe visitor center was conceived by MUDA-Architects to blend the indigenous spiritual and cultural heritage by respecting coastal and tropical nature ecology of Haikou. Due to the conspicuous location, it was proposed in a catchy shape of an oval pebble for conforming to the context and becoming a landmark to unfold the cityscape. A mirroring form of the local traditional roof was created as a shelter from the tropical climate. Glass curtain wall installed with undulating sunshades, was adopted for facade to save energy, correspond to the coastal feature and provide spacious view to visitors.

To diversify the proposed osmanthus exhibition hall in Minjiang village, MUDA-Architects integrated it with a business conference center, a township training center and related merchandise sales. The design was inspired by Western Sichuan folk dwellings based on the consideration of native elements, and modern aesthetic techniques were introduced as innovation to the irregular-shaped site by stretching a spiral from plane vertically. The exhibition hall was ultimately conceived with an upturned ground floor, an enclosed exhibition and conference floor and an exposed panorama roof platform.

The proposed experimental residence community is adjacent to a village in Dongping County with relatively high accessibility and privacy. To avoid isolated urban residence, the surrounding landscape and architectures were designed to converge to the center in streamlines along with diamond shapes for creating an innovative layout of diversified spaces, which was inspired by fish streaming. Six blocks of residence were elevated to generate a coherent landscape network with commercial spaces on the ground and connect the shared landscape platform on the overhead floor to enhance communication.
