Subtle, yet noticeable, the numbers on the clocks are carved indents cut so close to the edge of the faces that the top of them are chopped off. The shadows of the carved-out letters bring a 3-dimensional impression to the clock face, with its appearance changing in accordance with lights located in its immediate area. The idea was inspired by materials used for interior decoration and technical conversion. On the updated design, the letters carved into the clock face are only 2mm in width. The smart fonts give a sharp and clean impression.

Takenobu Igarashi is the designer behind the Big Clock of Stars which hangs on the outer wall of Sapporo Station in Hokkaido Japan since 2003 and has also designed another clock on both east and west concourses of the same station. This clock was introduced with its design direction based on the clocks. The clock has a beautifully designed dial with original number types and its clock numbers half below are especially designed in a way for easy reading from the ground. Its frame is made with aluminum sand casting and lathing. The distance between its dial and glass is minimized.
