Seed of Life Decorative Lamp by Atelier Varadinum

Seed of Life Decorative Lamp
Working in the laser cut field, and having origami as a hobby, it can be a natural challenge to use the origami technique on other materials. One of the results is this remarkable object, made out of plywood, that envelops it's complex geometrical shape with the seven days of creation pattern. It can radically transform the environment in a room once it is turned on. The product changes from a highly decorative, sculptural piece into a source that generates ambiental light, projecting the Seed of Life pattern from it's sides on to the room walls and ceiling in which it is exposed.

Two words that would characterize this model are: elegant and robust. It is designed so that it can be assembled like a modular origami made out of metal. A graphic methaphor of the fire element, as described in Plato’s dialogues, stands at it’s base that is derived from a triangular pyramid. The discreet symbols of earth, air and water, complementary to fire, that are represented on the three support elements, are a reminder of the ancient wisdom of Greek philosophers. This geometric metaphor of fire is made to give shelter to the same element.
