Azrieli Fellows Commemoration Book
To celebrate their 10th anniversary the Azrieli Fellows Program had a special evening Gala devoted to celebrating the Fellows that have been part of the program for the past ten years. For that occasion the Azrieli Fellows Program released a special edition book that focus on some of those remarkable Fellows.

Impressionist Treasures Experiential Installation
For the first time, the Gallery turned the tables on the concept of attracting viewers to the Gallery, and instead, brought the Gallery to the viewers. Aside from generating memorable experiences by inviting passers-by to sit and immerse themselves in the painting, the experiential installation was designed to reach and entice new Gallery audiences to come see the original at the Gallery. The experiential installation was even equipped with three interactive iPad kiosks where visitors could play an Art Match quiz.

It was essential that the design of this catalogue be sympathetic to the work of this contemporary artist. The halftone dot was chosen as an approach for the cover as this technique has been one constant in the artist’s multifaceted career. The yellow color sleeve was incorporated as a way to reference the many layers in this artist’s practice, and the use of one of the Chorus faces on the cover was a humorous nod to the visitor experience. A spot-UV varnish was used on the cover to give the image a three-dimensional quality similar to his works.

Impressionist Treasures Promotional Hoarding
In an example of creativity and innovation, the temporary fencing used to cordon off the renovation activities taking place at the Gallery was converted into large-scale, high-impact advertising hoarding that featured our Corot-based design, reproductions of certain works, and the names of big-name impressionist painters.

A way out of the mirror Artist Book
The design of the book was based on a children’s storybook that tells a tale through images. The main character is an exaggerated form praying mantis, understood as a self-portrait of the artist as a young man. Titled after an Allen Ginsberg poem, A Way Out of the Mirror includes over two hundred drawings deliberately printed on thin paper. The special edition of the book was packaged in a personalized Tyvek pink envelope. Tyvek was chosen for its outstanding water resistance to both complement and withstand Farmer’s sculptural waterworks that were part of the Biennale exhibition.

Our Stories. Interactive Learning Centre Exhibition
In June 2017, the National Gallery of Canada opened three major exhibition offerings. We anticipated that visitors would need contextual information to help make connections between these multiple exhibition offerings. To that end, an engaging and interactive learning space was designed and installed for the summer of 2017. Titled Our Stories, this space provided visitors with a framework to deepen their understanding of art. It offered enjoyable and immersive experiences, told relevant stories, and inspired curiosity about the artworks on view.
