No matter how evolved, the essence of home is the same - a warm and comfortable place. That's why the designers chose the tree house shape, even though there is no smoke coming out of the chimney.

This case is located at Jinggang Mountains which is the revolutionary base of Communist Party of China. There are a great deal of visitors and CPC members gather for training in this area every year. Different from common souvenir shops of most tourist sites, our client hope to incorporate the functions of exhibitions, tourist information, cultural and creative products sell, catering, DIY experience, and training courses to create a new business model.

People who work in the office within cities are basically away from nature. However, through design, nature landscape and interaction with nature in person are brought in to allow employees to refresh themselves freely during working time. A healthy and cheerful working environment is thus created, and the efficiency and creativity of the employees are enhanced at the same time.

This house enjoys the convenience of the city and the intimacy of nature. The Chinese philosopher Zhuangzi promoted carefree wandering and becoming one with the Way by following nature. The designer combined it with the idea of less is more to create a practical living space without unnecessary decoration. The use of concrete, bamboos, plants and recycled materials reflect the natural surroundings and respect of the land. It also emotes the original desire of going back to where they came from. It could probably describe the joy of fish which is mentioned in the book named Zhuangzi.

The site is shaped in a narrow triangle space right beside Calligraphy Greenway, and the owner is planning on starting a Malaysian-style restaurant named Layang Layang. The designer used extensive ornaments made from rattan and wood and stated the tone of the interiors to be natural. The exterior of the third floor, where the kitchen is located has become a weave rug, allowing ventilation and lighting. By creating the semi-outdoor space of the restaurant can break barriers among the restaurant, the city, and people who are in living near this area.
