View Profile Consult Now Hire NowDue to strict regulations and a narrow sloped plot, Opening House was designed on a vertical axis so as to make maximum use of limited space and was inspired by the owner’s playful personality, and his love for Star Wars and Rubik’s cube. Its shape is triangular as the north facade swings to the west to catch sunlight and frame the main entrance of the house by creating a luminous atrium that spans across three floors. This opening gesture is underlined by the use of the vibrant colors of Rubik’s Cube inside and outside the house.

The objective was to acquire all the vague images of the owner's wishes, creating the feeling of a home that oscillates between surrealism and realism. The architectural design here becomes a living organism that lives, breathes and acts in two parallel realities: the realistic and non-realistic, the functional and experiential, the perceptible and imaginary, the real and fictional, the comfortable and enjoyable, the conventional and non-conventional, the instrumental and qualitative, in other words the reality of the need and desire.
