Two-layered glued-laminated timber beams are used to construct the spatial structure, with directions echoing the spatial connections linking the key spaces. The project transforms an existing semi-outdoor transitional space into a civic square for the members of the academy, in the name of Professor Charles Kao, the pioneer of the development and use of fiber optics in telecommunications.

The project revitalizes a 3-story tenement built in 1948 to become a creative and experiential venue to serve its new mission to revive and reinterpret traditional crafts in a contemporary context. Crafts on Peel is a multipurpose venue providing home to experiential retail opportunities, exhibitions, workshops. To keep the 120m2 floor space flexible, full height oxidized steel posts with adjustable display shelves extend across the exposed brick wall at all levels.

With close communication with client and also after careful review of the architectural merit with specialist, a more radical approach was adopted for the renovation of the Ancestor Hall. The desire to create connections with the exterior landscape and retains privacy at the same time for the sacred interior calls for an alternating elevation treatment of 120mm diameter treated pine poles and 120mm wide glass. The rhythm is derived from studying the dimensions of the existing building and its elements. Soffits, balustrades, stone floors were all carefully proportioned.

"Black Tenement" is a renovation project in Central, Hong Kong. The project renovates an 5-storey tenement house building from 1950s to provide six studio flats and one 2-bedrooms flat. The design keeps the existing envelope intact and retain some old features; and introduce a clean lines design with a limited palette of materials. Works from local craftsmen are incorporated. At the entrance, there is the old Chinese noodle store on the left, and a new western coffee shop on the right.

The project encloses and transforms a corridor area into a desirable environment for students to socialize. Different combinations between the curve sofa benches and the existing rectangular portals result a few different settings. 49no. custom-made fibreglass reflector lampshades flies above, pouring in a soothing glow and dividing the uniform cluster area into zones with various happenings. Variations of pattern originated from school name are engraved to the portal wall by CNC milling
