Coral Blanche Floor Lamp by Yongwook Seong
Coral Blanche Floor Lamp
Coral Blanche Floor Lamp
Coral Blanche is a lighting design project intended to explore Coral Bleaching in design language. The process of Coral Bleaching is associated with a whitening phenomenon. Ironically, the whitening process is the transient beauty due to corals' effort to survive. When algae displacement is prolonged, corals' starvation continues on. These bleached corals then soon become decayed, eventually resulting in destruction of coral reefs.

Froggie Table Lamp
Froggie is a desk lamp project that inspires playful creativity. It captures the very moment when a frog rises above water. The eyes are represented as lighting sources, and the exposed body above water as a base. Users are able to manipulate its eye shapes by adjusting their positions, which could render various lighting effects.

Accordio Pet House
Accordio is a design study about portable pet houses. The silicone pet house is light-weighted and collapsible as an accordion-like structure. It is easy to clean and carry during outdoor activities and travels. This silicone house can be compressed in a 1/6 size by pushing both sides. A fabric cushion can be conveniently fit into the collapsed form for portability. Each magnetic frame (a total of 8) is reinforced for structural stability. Once collapsed, these frames adhere each other and keep it compact and portable.

C 39 Sofa
C 39 Sofa
C 39 is the transformative state of a pill that implies a seating form. As the exterior body is partially cut, the interior particles are exposed - these particles are made of post-consumer recycled fibre and soft enough to function as cushions. As a person sits or lies down inside C 39, one can experience partial encapsulation of the body, and physically interact with the interior particles.

Tide Interactive Seaplane Terminal
Tide Interactive Seaplane Terminal
Tide-Interactive Seaplane Terminal is a concept project, Sea Island, Richmond, Canada. Sea Island, Canada is vulnerable to the sea level rise as its most part could be under water by 2100. Tide-Interactive Seaplane Terminal is thus to study the interaction between water and architecture, and find an architectural solution to the sea level rise in the future. The project examines how the building reacts to tidal water, and evolves into an organism with response to the changing environment.

Bookhouse Latrine Bookhouse Latrine
Bookhouse Latrine is the outhouse design exercise in the Garden City Lands, Richmond, Canada. As the usage of physical books is on the decline in the digital age, the Bookhouse Latrine project is the architectural attempt to recycle or recirculate physical books for public. A waterless composting toilet was placed in the centre. Wooden bookshelves were designed to be a load-bearing structure, and books on the shelves become "walls." Depending on the types of books or materials used, a program of Bookhouse Latrine could be variously changeable.

Metro Highway Bookshelf by Yongwook Seong
Metro Highway Bookshelf
Metro Highway Bookshelf
The metro highway bookshelf represents an organic amalgam of the metro grid and roads. Shanghai metro map was selected and transformed into a bookshelf form. Tire marks were applied to its floor skins, which then imply the road surface. The intrinsic geometry of the metro lines provides voids for books and etc. Each void is uniquely formed as lines merge and interact each other. Tire marks add dynamic flows and aesthetic pleasure to the metro grid.
