Cloud of Luster Wedding Chapel
The Cloud of luster is a wedding chapel located inside a wedding ceremony hall in Himeji city, Japan. The design tries to translate the modern wedding ceremony spirit into physical space. The chapel is all white, a cloud shape enveloped almost entirely in curved glass opening it to the surrounding garden and water basin. The columns are toped in hyperbolic capital like heads smoothly connecting them to the minimalistic ceiling. The chapel socle on the basin side is a hyperbolic curve allowing the whole structure to appear as if it is floating on the water and accentuate its lightness.

Toshin PostPandemic Office
For its first created office since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, the challenge Matsuo Gakuin was facing is to find a solution for protecting its office users while keeping the aesthetic values the company has always cherished. A thunder shaped table runs along the office dividing the space into staff and guest areas. Glass panels were sandwiched between the board and its duplicate hanging from the ceiling. The glass panels run alternatively through two parallel lines separated by 20cm space. This disposition forms a protective shield while allowing air and documents circulation.

Nautilus Restaurant
The Grand Blue Express is a luxury aquarium dining restaurant in Ueno, Tokyo. The renovated space limited to 95sqm took on the 5th floor of a mixed used building. Inspired by luxury trains, the design tries to overcome the small space limitations to both accommodate the aquariums and provide the luxurious atmosphere the restaurant aims to implement. The dining room takes the form of a corridor coach that serves the individual cabins on both sides. each cabin is equipped with its aquarium installed to mimic the train windows, creating the impression to be inside a train cruising underwater.

The PolyCuboid Office Building
The PolyCuboid is the new headquarter building for TIA, a company that provides insurance services. The first floor was shaped by the limits of the site and the 700mm diameter water pipe that is crossing the site underground limiting foundation space. The metallic structure dissolves into the diverse blocs of the composition. The pillars and beams vanish from the space syntax, projecting the impression of an object, while also eliminating that of a building. The volumetric design is inspired by TIA’s Logo turning the building itself into an icon representing the company.

The OmniDirectional Internal Medicine Clinic
The OmniDirectional is an internal medicine clinic located in a Japanese suburban town of Hyogo prefecture. The core of the clinic is the endoscopy room, naturally placing it in a central position both spatially and functionally. The entrance gives directly to the central axis of the waiting room, ending in the reception counter followed by a glass opening that showcases the endoscopy room. The materiality of the clinic also plays an essential role for highlighting the endoscopy room as the core of the building by contrasting the materiality of the exterior, interior, and the endoscopy room.

Wavy Stillness Sports Bar
The Wavy Stillness is a hospitality establishment compelled to combine two rather different atmospheres, cafe by day, and a sports bar by the evening. This combination, add to the hint of luxury service the establishment is providing, generates a hybrid space of a new kind. The wall behind the counter is covered in a wavy three-dimensional stainless steel sheet creating a dynamic reflection that changes according to the viewer's angle. Furthermore, in contemplation of hosting Sports public viewing events, 21 screens have been arranged in four different combinations.

Pinning the light is a permanent installation introducing experiential art to beauty space. This renovation work takes on a previously standard Japanese convenience store turning it into a Hair Salon. To reduce the cost of the renovation, the walls and ceiling were finished with raw OSB boards. 120000 golden headed thumbtacks were pushed over the central wall generating a scintillating surface. The pins sparkles by reflecting outdoor sunlight on daytime and the indoor lighting at night. The reflection changes according to the light and the position of the viewer in an interactive fashion.

Inami Koro Udon Restaurant and Shop
How can architecture represent a culinary concept? The Edge of the Wood is an attempt to respond to this question. Inami Koro is reinventing the traditional Japanese Udon dish while keeping the common techniques for preparation. The new building reflects their approach by revisiting the traditional Japanese wooden constructions. All contour lines expressing the shape of the building were simplified. This includes the glass frame hidden inside the thin wooden pillars, the roof and ceiling inclination rotated, and the edges of vertical walls all being expressed by a single line.

The Panelarium Urology Clinic
The Panelarium is the new clinic space for Dr. Matsubara one of the few surgeons certified to operate the da Vinci robotic surgeries systems. The design was inspired from the digital world. The binary system components 0 and 1 were interpolated in the white space and embodied by panels that jut out from the walls and ceiling. The floor follows also the same design aspect. The Panels although their random appearance are functional, they become signs, benches, counters, bookshelves and even door handles, and most importantly eye-blinders securing a minimum privacy for the patients.

The cutting Edge is a dispensing pharmacy related to the neighboring Daiichi General Hospital in Himeji City, Japan. In this type of pharmacies the client doesn’t have direct access to the products as in the retail type; rather his medicines will be prepared in the backyard by a pharmacist after presenting a medical prescription. This new building was designed to promote the image of the hospital by introducing a High-tech sharp image in accordance with an advanced medical technology. It results in a white minimalistic but fully functional space.

Moritomi Japanese Restaurant
The relocation of Moritomi, a restaurant offering Japanese cuisine, next to the world heritage Himeji Castle explores the relationships between materiality, shape and traditional architectonics interpretation. The new space tries to reproduce the castle stone fortifications pattern in various materials including rough and polished stones, black oxide coated steel, and tatami mats. A floor made in small resin coated gravels represents the castle moat. Two colors, white and black, flows like water from outside, and crossing the wooden lattice decorated entrance door, to the reception hall.

WADA Sports Flagship Store
To celebrate its 30th anniversary, WADA Sports is relocating to a newly built headquarter and flagship store. The inside of the shop has a gigantic elliptical metallic structure supporting the building. Bellow the elliptical structure, the racket products are aligned in a specially designed fixture. The rackets are arranged in series and made easy to take on hand one by one. Above, the elliptical shape is used as a display of various valuable vintage and modern rackets collected from all over the country and transforming the shop’s interior into a racket’s museum.

The Duplicated Edge is a design for Toshin Satellite Preparatory School in Kawanishi, Japan. The School wanted a new reception, consultation and conference spaces in a narrow 110sqm room with a low ceiling. This design proposes an open space marked by a sharp triangular reception and information counter dividing the space into functional entities. The counter is covered in a gradually ascending white metallic sheet. This combination is duplicated by mirrors in the backyard wall and a reflective aluminum panels on the ceiling extending the space into wider dimensions.

Origami Ark Show room
Origami Ark or Sun Show Leather Pavilion is a showroom for Sansho leather manufacture in Himeji, Japan. The challenge was to create a space capable to show more than 3000 products in a very restrained area, and make the client understand the huge variety of products as he visits the showroom. The Origami Ark uses 83 small units of 1.5x1.5x2 m3 combined together irregularly to create a big three dimensional maze and provides the visitor and experience similar to exploring a jungle gym.

Pekin-kaku restaurant new renovation offers a stylistic reinterpretation of what a Beijing style restaurant could be, rejecting the traditional abundantly ornamental design in favor of a more simplistic architectonics. The ceiling features a Red-Aurora created using 80 meters long string Curtains, whilst the walls are treated in traditional dark Shanghai bricks. Cultural elements from the millenary Chinese heritage including Terracotta warriors, the Red hare, and Chinese ceramics was highlighted in a minimalistic display providing a contrasting approach to the decorative elements.

White and Steel is a design for Toshin Satellite Preparatory School in Nagata Ward, Kobe City, Japan. The school wanted a new reception and office including meetings and consultation spaces. This minimalistic design uses contrast between white and a metal plate called Black Skin Iron to stimulate human senses in various aspects. All textures were uniformly painted white generating an inorganic space. The Black Skin Iron was later applied to several surfaces to make the contrast or displayed in the same way contemporary art Galleries would display their art pieces.

Matching convenience for hard studies and a relaxed atmosphere for fun, the design promotes the feminine nature of its users and offers an alternative materialization for the abstract concept of “Kawaii” largely used by Schoolgirls. The rooms for bunches and classes in this school takes the shape of the octagonal gabled roof house as illustrated in children’ picture book.
