Birth of the ocean Bangle, Bracelet by Jimin Jung

Birth of the ocean Bangle, Bracelet
His design practice is informed by modernism and minimalism and driven by material exploration. He utilizes both traditional and contemporary designing and making skills to bring form to his artistic vision. Instead of making works from found objects, every element of his jewelry has been designed and engineered from blank blueprints. All of his jewelry is comprised of multiple geometric elements and married into abstract modules that repeat in order to create an elaborate form. The design process then pushes the limitations and error range of the technology he is using to achieve a dynamic.

Condemn cuff Extendable cuff
The main goal with this project was to make a cuff that does not have size limitation. The biggest challenge was choosing a clasp. A clasp was integral but it limited size. Therefore, the project was aimed to design a clasp and a cuff as one object. While researching, the design was inspired by structure of a car suspension and a train stopper. The idea was to make the main body of the cuff. It has 2 compression springs in both sides. When the cuff is tried to be worn, 2 wrist holders on both sides open and it fits automatically variety of wrist sizes.

The goal with this project was to achieve harmony between two different materials: brass and Glass. Rather than the rare or expensive materials often used to create fine jewelry, these elements are more commonplace materials in the modern world. Therefore this work relies on design and the harmony between these materials to create pieces that exist between the definitions of fine and fashion jewelry.

Crustacean Bracelet
This bracelet was inspired by the exoskeletons of crustaceans. The most important part of the design process was to incorporate the natural elements and movement of these mysterious creatures into the flexing of the bracelet and its clasp. The mechanism, though simple, was very challenging to perfect. This piece was fabricated using 3D printing techniques and is designed to be worn simply on either wrist.
