Traveling at Home Residential Apartment
The owner is a keen traveler who wishes to be abroad even when at home. So the designer takes inspiration from Eiffel Tower, the symbol of Paris, his favorite destination. Walls, shelves, and even the railings forming the open closet in the bedroom all meet at angles, and the feature wall and sliding door in the living room are panels adhered together by strips of lattice-like metal. Spotlights in the living room point at the walls, simulating light beams from the tower and creating a melodramatic mood. A monochromatic colour scheme further brings out the tower’s modern and chic presence.

Unobstructed freedom Residential House
One key feature of the design is we took down all pre-existing walls within the flat. What was once a two-bedroom residence became a single giant living area. As per the request of the residents, the centerpiece of the design is the bathtub and bathroom which is located in the middle of the unit. Surrounding the bathroom are two see-through glass screens. In case there are visitors, the screens can be covered up with lowering curtains. Likewise for other areas in the unit, there are built-in curtains that can be lowered from the ceiling. Connectivity between areas is seamless as residents have the ability to see from one corner of the unit to the other without any barriers in the way.

Flexible 3D Space Design Office
A majority of furniture in the living space is ‘loose’, meaning they are easy to move around. The aim of using such furnishes is to give the residents the option of opening up the room for more free space. Every inch within the unit is used to its fullest potentials. A sitting area within the walls is located right next to the entrance, which can act as a place for people to rest or for extra storage space. Also within one of the walls is a work table that can be pulled out for use or remain hidden when conserving space. Leading residents up towards the second level is a recessed handrail and floating staircase. Both elements are designed to serve their purpose yet at the same time create a sense of spaciousness.

Hatton Place Residential Apartment
The contrast between the lush Lung Fu Mountain at the apartment’s backside, and the front view of Hong Kong’s high-rises inspired the design concept: juxtaposition of nature and luxurious comfort. Artwill used natural hues and woods throughout, and oriented the bathtub in the master bathroom towards the greens outside. But the owners wanted to set a luxurious tone for guests. A tree silhouette cut out of a wooden panel welcomed visitors at the entrance. They would relax in the breakfast-cum-minibar, and then they would enjoy the owners’ cooking on a long, white marble dining table.

Park Island Residential Apartment
The owners gave Artwill the shortest brief ever: a freehand over the whole design. Taking this open mindset, Artwill found inspiration from the lightness and delicacy in the open plan of a loft. All walls were knocked down, letting one’s eyes to run down the 37-foot long apartment. This also meant the whole Tsing Ma Bridge could be seen through the balcony doors that ran the unit's length. Two rows of bookshelves delineated out a living area, working area, and bedroom. Shelves not filled up fully allowed light through from the next room, charging the apartment with a natural brightness.

Space scarcity in Hong Kong, a drive to work and play hard, and long work hours–these were the constraints Artwill faced when designing this office that doubled as an extension of the owner’s home. Instead of a standard office solution of an open plan with partitions, they leveraged the tall ceiling to form an elevated box for the office. The space underneath was perfect for displaying the owner’s art collection with its lack of light. With a projector screen, the unit’s centre served as the conference room. But the sofa here allowed it to become a home theatre over the weekend.
