The sculpture consists of a triangulated stainless steel surface in a branching geometry. Onto this structural tree, side-glowing fiber optics cables have grown like the veins of Ivy. The growth of both the metal surface as well as the lighting were developed via computational simulations of the natural processes.

The structural systems of plants act mainly in compression and bending. In reverse we can obtain a geometry that performs well in tension. Designed as a tensile single surface, Vana is suspended from the ceiling and descends as four glowing columns of light. The geometry, tessellated into triangular segments, has been digitally grown using a cellular algorithm. Lit with LEDs from the inside, light shines through the stitched joints and lightens the space with an immersive illumination. Vana forms an iso-surface around a venation network, a cortex around an anastomosis system.

Or2 is a single surface roof structure which reacts to sunlight. The polygonal segments of the surface react to ultra-violet light, mapping the position and intensity of solar rays. When in the shade, the segments of Or2 are translucent white. However when hit by sunlight they become coloured, flooding the space below with different hues of light. During the day Or2 becomes a shading device passively controlling the space below it. At night Or2 transforms into an enormous chandelier, disseminating light which has been collected by integrated photovoltaic cells during the day.

Bubbles is the proposal for a smog-proof urban botanical garden. Designed for cities with air qualitiy problems, the buildings which finance the park are moved to the edges of the plot to make space for the garden in the centre. The park is covered by a light-weight and economic ETFE surface. The allows for a controlled climate for the plants and for an enclosed space which contains fresh filtered air.
