This design is based on a Russian tradition called Khokhloma (a unique style of painting patterns in yellow, red, gold and black on various decorative items). Using the style of Khokhloma with illustrations of St Petersburg and Saint Basil's Cathedral, the designer captured Russia in a way that the target audience would relate to and in a way that would build excitement around the trip.
